Easy Riders

Mom's broken finger means she needed to find some alternate riders for Sugar. These girls will have to do.

A Walk in the Park

Out at Grand Dad's

The kids visited Grand Dad's a couple weekends ago and were taken on a riveting tour of the property line. A local barn cat decided along the way that Scarlett was the...cat's meow, and wouldn't leave her side. It was Bear's first trip out to the farm. She loved it!

Belated Birthday

Cursed with a mid-summer birthday, a tradition has taken hold for a mid-fall belated birthday for Bitty. This time, Mom took Scarlett and her three best friends (Charlotte, Manon and Dalia) for an overnight at a local motel, where they were mistakenly placed on the "quiet" floor. After a call from the front desk, the girls kind of got the idea. Not entirely though. Many hours were spent in the pool, including some early, early hours. Poor Mom. Happy Scarlett.

They're crafty!

The kids continue their crafty ways, this time building ginger bread houses with Mom. Bitty, who is quite interested in sewing, forged her very own skirt on a rainy Saturday morning.

Trades

What happens when you trade your older brother the opportunity to draw on your back in exchange for him allowing you to poke and prod his body with utensils? You get "cash"

Life's a Circus

Scarlett's new schedule includes circus class, which she will obviously be taking with "les filles". This picture is annotated because it's hard for even us to tell them apart sometimes!

Homemade Halloween

When forced to make their own, the kids came up with these tissue paper ghosts!

Ladies Balling

Claire's clients recently passed along front row seats to the women's professional team so Dad and the little lady spent the night at the game.

NO-Hawk!

I convinced Wyatt to cut off his Mohawk, which he immediately regretted. At a recent doctor's visit he improvised a solution.

Loves and Kisses

We love Bear and she loves us! A LOT. Plus, look how silly she sits.

More Fishing!

Claire took Wyatt and his pal, Tate, deep sea fishing recently. They came back with quite a haul. We're slowly making our way through it.

Rubberband

Scarlett's gymnastics career is off to a great start. Her team, the Balancing Bouncey Butterflies, is 2-0 in their first two competitions and she's objectively been one of the best members of the team.

Soccer Season!

Soccer season is more than the games, it's the shuttling around town, watching the siblings and friends from sidelines and occasionally pile on Wyatt. He loves it.

Bear comes to the games and always becomes the crowd favorite. She loves the attention and is so gentle with the mobs of kids.

Pumpkin Pickin'!

Frustrated when we couldn't decide which Pumpkin.

Happy when we finally picked our pumpkin.

It's Hot!

It's been legitimately hot this summer! Regularly staying in the 90's for several days and 80s most other days. We're spending a lot of time at Lake Washington coolin' off.

Heartless

Wyatt showed he's not (or is?) heartless. Eating the still-beating heart of a trout he just caught.

Here's Lookin' At You Kid!

Off He Goes

Wyatt shoved off this morning for his first overnight camp. A week on Vashon Island not knowing anyone to start. He was stoic the whole time preparing and loading, but I could see a little fear in his eyes and the boat departed. I found it much harder to see him go; remembering that feeling from when I was a boy his age going to camp for the first time. Sending him off to college is going to be HARD.

Hot!

It's been 90+ degrees for a couple weeks so we've been at the lake or in water all the time.

Lemonade sale

Scarlett and Charlotte taking full advantage of the heat and their cuteness, demonstrating business savvy to make some $.

Dirty Horse!

Dad definitely drew the short stick a couple weeks ago when I found Sugar covered in mud when going for an impromptu visit.

Keeping a kid out of trouble

...also known as keeping a kid occupied when you can't do much running or lifting. Allow her to draw on you, to great delight.

Friends

We spent last Friday evening having dinner and drinks in the backyard with some of our dearest friends; Peter, Christel, Manon, Dalia and Wyatt's pal Anderson.

Football! Yay?

How Scarlett rolls at Wyatts football practice. iPad is under there.

Sundays

Sunday dinner has become a tradition around here and with summer comes a return to the fire pit for roasted desserts. Wyatt is remarkably patient and good at making a quality marshmallow. Yes you guessed correctly, that fire pit IS the nose of a submarine that Stuart bought from a scrap metal guy.

Little Drummer Girl

Scarlett is now two lessons in on learning to play the drums. It's cute, but we're kind of afraid she'll like it and want a kit.

Impromptu morning nap. Late night recovery.

Slow Mo!

If you ask Wyatt, the word is better in slow motion.

School's Out For Summer.

The last day of school brings out different emotions in people.
